Grunewald-Blitz Clinic for Communication Disorders in Children

The Grunewald-Blitz Clinic for Communication Disorders in Children (GBC) was endowed by Ms. Abbey Grunewald, in memory of her grandson Nicholas Blitz, who had cerebral palsy and dysarthria. Each year since its inception in 1995, the GBC evaluates and treats hundreds of children, offering a communication lifeline to Tucson and Southern Arizona Communities. The clinic is equipped with state of the art instrumentation in speech-language pathology and audiology. The environment is fun and functional, accommodating individual and group therapy sessions. Children and family members will appreciate the child-friendly atmosphere, including a pleasant playground area, dazzling wall murals, and vibrant Southwestern color schemes.

All the clinic faculty hold Arizona licensure and certification from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. The GBC clinic operates year round and serves as the primary training site for graduate students in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Outreach Programs and consultations are available.
